From our Strandmuschel holiday home, many destinations are easy to reach on foot, by bike, or by car, making it an ideal base for your family holiday, active break, or short stay on the Baltic Sea coast.

The natural, family-friendly Baltic Sea beach in Zierow is only a few minutes' walk from our holiday home and is especially suitable for families with children thanks to its shallow water entry and the sheltered location in the Bay of Wismar.
In summer, the beach offers plenty of space to relax, while children can play safely in the shallow water and on the playground areas near the shore.

If you enjoy cycling, Zierow is an excellent starting point. The Baltic Coast Cycle Route leads from here towards the UNESCO World Heritage city of Wismar as well as to the Baltic seaside resort of Boltenhagen.
Regional routes such as the Cultural Cycle Route, the Western Brick Route and the Baltic Sea Cycle Route also pass through the area, combining sea views, open countryside, and historic brick architecture.

The area around Zierow offers many scenic walking and hiking routes through fields, woodland, and along the Baltic coast.
The European long-distance hiking trail E9 runs through the region and offers beautiful day walks with coastal views, for example from Zierow via Hohen Wieschendorf towards Boltenhagen or along Eggers Wiek in the direction of Wismar.

Hanseatic Town of Wismar

Wismar is a UNESCO World Heritage city with an impressive historic centre, large market square, brick Gothic churches, and the old harbour, making it one of the most rewarding day trips from Zierow.
Families can also enjoy attractions such as the WONNEMAR water park, the indoor playground Mumpitz, and other leisure activities in and around the city.

Island Poel & Surroundings

A day trip to the island of Poel is a great option to combine a cycle tour with a boat tour (from Wismar), beaches, small harbours and peaceful coastal landscapes.
You can also visit Boltenhagen, one of Germany’s oldest seaside resorts, or enjoy boat trips from Wismar and Poel for a different view of the Baltic coast.
